NFL, NBA, & Tokyo No-go

Weekly BOLD Predictions

Lots of what-if’s in today’s world! We foresee some drama in the NFL, NBA, & Tokyo NO-Go? Or Go?

1. Jets take Justin Fields at #2 in the draft.

Seemingly, the Jets are highly interested in BYU’s Zach Wilson, but GM Joe Douglas has not closed the door on the possibility of another quarterback pickup. The Jets want a QB who can start immediately and not a development project like Trey Lance. The Jets traded Sam Darnold to the Panthers for a reason; they know they can find a quarterback that is NFL-ready in this draft. In my opinion, Fields may be the second best QB in this draft (Trevor Lawrence).

2. 76ers make a deep playoff push.

The 76ers have left a trail of playoff disappointments in recent years: a collapse in 2018, the opposing Raptor Kawhi Leonard’s miracle shot in 2019, and an early exit in the 2020 bubble. However, the 76ers playoff forecast may turn sunny under Coach Rivers’s leadership, Ben Simmons’s improvement, and Joel Embiid’s dominance. Moreover, the Sixers’s roster lists other key pieces like sharpshooter Shake Milton and defensive ace Josh Richardson. The ’21 Sixers are motivated to take down the unstoppable Nets and take home the title.

3. The 2021 Olympics will be cancelled.

A sad reality, but I won’t be surprised if the world’s greatest competition is the pandemic’s latest victim. Japan stated that they do not want to host this year’s game due to virus concerns. A global influx of athletes, coaches, support staff, etc. in a concentrated area will only lead to potentially more positive cases of which no one wishes to claim ownership. I do feel for the athletes who train for years only for their dreams to be stripped away. Again.

  1. 1. Would not be a surprise, Fields is the real deal.

    2. No way, I’ve been a Sixers fan since Dr J. I just can’t believe they will ever make another playoff run.

    3. I sure hope not, for the athletes sake. Even if they have to eliminate/reduce the fans.

    • I do agree with your take on Fields. The Sixers did win a title in the early 2000s with Iverson and are due for another. It’s more than likely that the games will be cancelled and I am saddened by the unfairness to all involved.
