The Whistleblower’s BOLD predictions – What’s your take?

Donovan Mitchell Wins NBA MVP

Though Mitchell’s stats might not be eye-popping, events are starting to turn in his favor. Mitchell is averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game this season. Mitchell also earned another All-Star nod in his fourth season. But with the absences of Lebron James and Anthony Davis due to injuries in LA, there is still the great James Harden out in Brooklyn to challenge Mitchell.

Niners take Trey Lance with the 3rd Pick

The Niners have traded with the Dolphins for the 3rd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Niners could have only made this trade for one reason, to draft a quarterback. Lance has some unreal skills, but plays in a D-2 school. Lance only played in two games this year because of North Dakota’s COVID regulations, but is still projected to be a top 15 pick in this year’s draft. The Niners may be interested in Lance or possibly Ohio State QB Justin Fields, another elite college QB. The Niners will probably sit either Lance (or Fields) behind Jimmy Garoppolo for a season, but it’s only a matter of time before one of them gets a shot.

Patriots take Mac Jones with the 15th Pick

Yes, the Pats did resign Cam Newton to a one-year deal. However, Newton, over the hill, at the age of 33 and may need some time to get going this season. A Jones pick would give the Pats an option should Newton struggle. Jones has shown some tools at Alabama, but his mobility is a cause for concern and could drive some teams away. The Pats have also expressed interest in the 49ers Jimmy Garoppolo. Unless another team has interest in Jones, he should be there for the taking at 15.

  1. Agreed: The Pats need to get Jones in this draft. He will be someone they can build on.
Disagreed: Mitchell will not win the MVP this your or any other year. He is an excellent player but not in the tier that will win an mvp.

    • I agree that Mitchell is a not a uber-talented player like Lebron or Durant, but he is one of the most clutch players in the NBA right now, and without him, the Jazz would be a sub-500 team. Mitchell hasn’t entered his prime yet and could win one or more MVPs in his young career.

  2. I agree with the teams who need quarterbacks. Something is not working for these teams and it starts at the QB.
As far as the MVP for basketball, yes Mitchell is having a good season, he doesn’t have the hype to go with it. I would take Harden at this point in the season. He has the stats and the stature to back it up.

    • If you look at the stats Mitchell is only one point off Harden and has two more assists, Mitchell is more valuable to the Jazz than Harden is to the Nets.
