THE WHISTLEBLOWER’S ANALYSIS
1. The Lions Lose in the Worst Way
Surprisingly, Detroit played very well against Baltimore. The Lions forced a game-altering pick off of Lamar Jackson and seemingly scored a game-sealing field goal, but it wasn’t. The Ravens answered with one of the craziest field goals in NFL history. Justin Tucker’s 66-yard bomb set the longest kick record. However, Lions fans will say the kick should have never happened. A look at film shows the play clock zeroes out for Baltimore on the previous snap. A tough break for the Lions.
2. Washington’s Defense is a Fraud
Many were expecting an elite Washington defense this season. Sadly, after three weeks of play, the WFT’s defensive unit is failing. Washington gave up 20 points against the Chargers, 29 against the Giants, and 5 TDs to the Bills. The WFT looked lost against Josh Allen’s superior passing skills and, shockingly, Chase Young was a non-factor.
3. The Steelers have Some Major Issues
When I said that Big Ben was declining, I wasn’t anticipating such a drastic decrease. Yesterday Ben looked like he was trying to throw a bowling ball downfield. Newcomer Najee Harris was the Steelers leading receiver with most of his receptions coming off of checkdowns. Meanwhile, the Bengals owned the Steelers’ defense and scored four passing touchdowns. Currently, the Steelers are sitting at 1-2. Is it time to switch to Dwayne Haskins at QB?

4. Rookie QBs Struggle Again
Rookie QBs played decently in Weeks 1-2 but had a rough Week 3 showing. Trevor Lawerence had two picks, Mac Jones had three picks, and Zach Wilson had two picks and no touchdowns. Justin Fields received his first start for the Bears but wasn’t able to generate any offense and lost badly to the Browns.
5. Coaches on the Hot Seat Already
It may be a little early in the NFL season, but already some coaches are on the hot seat. The Jags’ Urban Meyer looks incompetent at the NFL level. I doubt he makes it into his second season. Meanwhile, the Giants’ Joe Judge is in his second season and there’s no improvement from the Pat Shurner era.
