Top 5 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

HOW TO PICK AN EFFICIENT TEAM (cont.)

The quarterback is the backbone of your fantasy team, so this is where you need to research and plan. While success and health are never guaranteed, these top fantasy football quarterbacks will be hard to top and will score big.

#5 Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen was a high-risk/high-reward QB in his first two NFL seasons. His struggles included accuracy issues and lack of weapons, but in 2020, Allen had a bounce-back year. Contributing to Allen’s success were the acquisitions of Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley. In turn, Allen averaged 22 fantasy points per game (27 per game for PPR). Expectations are high for the Bills and Allen this season. MVP, anyone? But, remember, with a big arm comes interceptions. Allen is no stranger to INTs, having the second most in the AFC East (Cam Newton), and that limits me placing him higher than #5.

#4 Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady is the GOAT, but that does not qualify him as the best fantasy QB. However, Brady is still a very viable option for any league, especially with weapons such as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Gronk, Scotty Miller, Antonio Brown, and OJ Howard. Last season, he averaged 23 points a game in a standard league (25 in PPR) while proving many wrong with a 40 touchdown year at age 43. Brady may regress in 2021, but with the Bucs’s great offensive scheme and plenty of quality targets, I would bet on a good year from TB12.

#3 Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson had one of the greatest fantasy seasons in 2019. He threw for over 3,000 yards and rushed for 1,200 and broke Mike Vick’s record for a QB. Jackson averaged 28 points per game that season and carried many fantasy owners to a championship. In 2020, Jackson fell off a bit and averaged 23 points per game. But still Jackson reached 1,000 yards rushing! I expect Jackson to have bounce-back year in 2021. Baltimore went all-out! The Ravens brought in Sammy Watkins from Kansas City and drafted receiver Rashod Bateman in the first round. If Watkins and Bateman stay healthy, Jackson will be an elite passing threat on top of his rushing prowess.

#2 Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers, the current MVP, disproved any talk of decline last season. He led the Pack to the NFC Championship game, but suffered a disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The offseason was filled with “divorce” rumors between Rodgers and the Packers. Ultimately, Green Bay offered Rodgers a contract that would make him the highest-paid NFL player, Rodgers declined, but agreed on a one-year deal. Quite possibly this may be his last year with the Packers or even in the NFL. However, Rodgers will make the most with his weapons: Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, Devin Funchess, rookie addition Amari Rodgers, and familiar target, Randall Cobb. More than likely, Rodgers will have a similar season to 2020 and is definitely worth a first round pick.

#1 Patrick Mahomes ll, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is currently the #1 scoring machine in the NFL. Despite a poor showing in the Super Bowl, Mahomes still wowed with throws under pressure as the Chiefs offensive line crumbled to the Bucs’s pass rush. In 2020, Mahomes averaged a whopping 30 points a game and even hit a high of 59 points. There is no shortage of targets in Kansas City including Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Mahomes has the scheme, talent, and weapons to be your QB1.
