Reviewing the 2021 NFL Draft: Picks 8-10

#8: Jaycee Horn

Pre-draft Grade: B+

Current Grade: C+

I wasn’t very high on Horn going into the draft. I believed Pat Surtain ll to be the better prospect, and so far my feelings have proven to be correct. Horn missed most of his rookie season with a broken foot, and has been unspectacular in his second season. He needs to turn things around quick to warrant his draft position.

#9: Pat Surtain ll

Pre-draft Grade: A

Current Grade: A

So far in his young NFL career, Surtain has demonstrated why he was a highly-touted recruit and prospect. His successful rookie season was overshadowed by Micah Parsons’s dominance. However, Surtain has been the definition of lockdown corner and has allowed the second lowest yards of any corner this season (Trevon Diggs). Surtain is an All-Pro candidate and will be for years to come.

#10: Devonta Smith

Pre-draft Grade: B

Current Grade: A

The 2021 Heisman winner hasn’t slowed down a bit in the NFL, and has been a major factor in the development of Jalen Hurts. Smith had a good rookie season but his play was eclisped by Jamarr Chase and Jaylen Waddle. The Eagle’s RB had over 1,000 yards and is on track to do it again this season. Any questions about his size and durability have been put to rest, Smith should be a force for years to come.
