#4: Kyle Pitts
Pre-draft Grade: B+
Current Grade: B
Pitts had an impressive rookie season with over 1,000 receiving yards; however, he only managed to score one touchdown. However in 2022, Pitts’ struggles are mostly on the run-heavy scheme the Falcons implemented with Marcus Mariato under center. I believe a QB with a better arm Pitts will return to his elite form. At 6’4” he has the size and speed to be a dynamic tight end in the league.
#5: Jamarr Chase
Pre-draft Grade: B-
Current Grade: A+
I will admit I didn’t like the Bengals selecting Chase at #5 as he didn’t play his junior season of college and jumped to the NFL. After struggling in his preseason debut, he dominated when the regular season rolled around. Chase broke the rookie receiving record set by his LSU teammate Justin Jefferson and played a pivotal piece in the Bengals Super Bowl run. The OROTY has been great this season, but a knee injury has limited him to 6 games this season. Upon his return the Bengals should be primed for another playoff run.
#6: Jaylen Waddle
Pre-draft Grade: B
Current Grade: A
Jaylen Waddle’s rookie success was mostly overshadowed by the rise of Jamarr Chase, but he was still a powerhouse. Waddle posted over 1,000 yards and broke several rookie records, specifically the YAC (Yards After Catch) record. His sophomore year has been epic! Waddle, Tua, and Tyreek Hill form one of the best trios in the league.
#7: Penei Sewell
Pre-draft Grade: A
Current Grade: A-
Sewell was the definition of a can’t miss prospect coming out of Oregon, and I can’t say he’s a bust. However, he hasn’t reached the elite tier of tackles he was destined to become. I expect more growth out of the second year player, so don’t panic yet Detroit fans.
