NFL Week 8: Overreactions, Analysis, and Superlatives

Stop Sleeping on the Ravens.

Finally, Baltimore put together a complete game Thursday against the Bucs. The Ravens were down 3-10 at the half, but won 27-22. Lamar Jackson finished the game with 2 passing touchdowns and over 50 rushing yards, marking his third time (this season) achieving this feat. Meanwhile, Devin Duvernay has had a sneaky breakout season, and is slowly becoming a potential WR1. Furthermore, the Roquon Smith trade provides star power in a porous defense. The Ravens are getting better weekly and fans should be excited for the direction that the team is going.

Tony Pollard is the Man in Dallas.

Tony Pollard has flashed potential for years, but always as a back up to high volume back, Ezekiel Elliot. Now with Elliot injured, Pollard has shown that he can be the feature back, rushing for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the Bears. There are several reasons the Cowboys should give Pollard the feature role over Zeke. Zeke is owed 20 million next season, and if Dallas wants to move on, they will shed 10 million in cap space, making Pollard the much cheaper option.

Trade Deadline Did Not Disappoint.

The NFL trade deadline is always an exciting time for fans of the contenders. Several teams made blockbuster trades, such as Miami acquiring Bradley Chubb, one of the NFLs sack leaders with 5.5 sacks on the season. The best team in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills, acquired another piece in Nyheim Hines, who should bolster their stagnant rushing attack. Chase Claypool to the Bears is a move that is high-risk high-reward, and I like the Hockenson-Vikings trade.
