NFL Week 7: Overreactions, Analysis, and Superlatives

The Packers Need To Blow It Up?

It’s looking bleaker and bleaker in Green Bay each week. After a loss to the lowly Commanders, the Packers are sitting at 3-4, now three games out of first in the NFC North. Aaron Rodgers is experiencing his lowest rating since 2009, and the run game is still 20th in the league. It could be time to start over in Green Bay. The 2023 draft class boasts a lot of QB talent should they choose to move on from Rodgers.

Zach Wilson Is Running Out Of Time.

Wilson, the second overall pick in 2021, has been mediocre at best in his sophomore career. Yet, the Jets are sitting pretty at 5-2; however, the fresh loss of Breece Hall is catastrophic for the offense. James
Robinson is a good acquisition, but he doesn’t have the explosiveness of Hall. So far, Wilson’s flaws have been covered up by the great running game of the Jets, but will he hold up when that is stripped away? I don’t believe so. He has only one game with more than 150 passing yards, and hasn’t had a game with multiple touchdowns. Wilson needs to prove himself now or it could be all over for him in New Jersey.

The Bengals Have Hit Their Stride.

I was concerned about the Bengals for a few weeks, but after Sunday’s explosive game, those concerns have been alleviated. Joe Burrow had a massive game, throwing for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns, two of those to Jamarr Chase. The defense remains spotty, especially the secondary, but the pass rush is strong. The AFC is shaping up to be a race between the Bills and the Chiefs, but can the Bengals slip into the mix?
