NFL Week 4 Takeaways

THE WHISTLEBLOWER’S TOP 5

1. The Bills Look Even Better

Buffalo blew out Washington in Week 3, and, somehow, they topped that performance in Week 4. The Bills beat the Texans 40-0 in an all-around great outing. Josh Allen played well on the passing side and also had a rushing touchdown. The defense came away with four picks and sacked Davis Mills multiple times.

2. Dallas is a Serious Contender

Dallas showed up in a big way against Carolina in Week 4. The Panthers got out to a 14-13 lead in the second quarter, but the Cowboys exploded after that. Zeke had a big run to score, but that wasn’t the end of Dallas’ TD streak. Dak hit Amari Cooper for a long ball to extend the lead. On the defensive side of the ball, Trevon Diggs snagged two picks, bringing his season total to five.

3. Philly Needs a Defense, Not More Weapons

Granted the Eagles played the Chiefs, but their defensive issues are astronomical. Kansas City burned the Philadelphia “D” deep three separate times to Tyreek Hill. Meanwhile, Clyde Edwards-Helaire posted 100 rushing yards. The Eagles’ defense looked lost and too scared to put pressure on Patrick Mahomes. In a division with some good offenses, you need a good defense to win.

4. The Cards are the Best Team Right Now

I had the Rams as the best team in the NFL last week. But what I didn’t see coming was the Cards blowing them out of the water. The Cardinals dissected the Rams through the air and the ground. James Connor had two rushing touchdowns, while Kyler Murray and Deandre Hopkins made magic happen through the air. The Cards also shut down the proficient Rams offense, picking off Matt Stafford and punching out a fumble from Sony Michel. The Cards are undefeated, but how long can it last?

5. Quarter Season Surprise: The Cincinnati Bengals

Honestly, I did not expect the Bengals to be 3-1 so far. Cincinnati has had some major offensive line problems, or so it appeared. The Bengals haven’t been great protecting the QB, but they have not been terrible. Jamarr Chase has been a revelation at receiver, and Joe Mixon has been a serviceable back. Meanwhile, the defense has stepped up in a major way from 2020, I don’t know how long the Bengals can play this way, but they looked good in Weeks 1-4.
