NFL Week 4: Overreactions, Analysis, and Superlatives

This is the End for Baker Mayfield

When Baker was traded to Carolina, I believed he could have a career resurgence, but so far things are bad in Charlotte. In fact, Baker is looking worse than 2021 when he played with a torn shoulder. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffery is on the trade block. Too bad for the Panthers since he was their leading receiver AND rusher against Arizona. Baker is lucky that Matt Corral has a Lisfranc injury and will be out for the season. However, if Baker can’t get his act together, he could be seeing the field from the sideline watching Sam Darnold.

Miles Sanders has Finally Broken Out

In 2019, the Eagles spent a second round pick on Sanders following his successful career at Penn State. Sanders, up to this point, has been slightly above average. For example, in 2021, Sanders did not score a single touchdown; however, this season he already has 4. Sanders has finally given the Eagles that extra wrinkle in the rushing game, which was primarily dominated by Jalen Hurts. It’s a contract year for Sanders, so he has some extra motivation to be as great as he can be.

The Bears Should Prepare for the Draft

Justin Fields is not the guy and anyone who has watched the Bears this season knows it. The coaches don’t trust him to throw the long ball, and without their potent run game, the offense would be horrendous. The Bears are a rebuilding organization and should have a premium draft pick. The 2023 class is deep with QBs, including prospects such as Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson. If the Bears want to replace Justin Fields, they have plenty of options.
