NFL Week 2 Studs and Duds

THE WHISTLEBLOWER’S PREDICTIONS

Stud 1: Matt Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford had an excellent first game out in LA with over 350 yards passing and four touchdowns. Stafford looked fresh and healthy, unlike his Detroit days of little protection and few weapons. In Week 2, the Rams are facing the Indianapolis Colts, a team with obvious defensive issues after last week’s torching by Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Stafford is set to repeat his Week 1 performance.

Dud 1: Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons looked lost in Week 1 when they got massacred by the Eagles. Matt Ryan looked washed up without Julio Jones. In fact, Ryan had a career day in the wrong categories. Ryan had a career-low in passing yards and QBR, both unchartered waters for the former MVP. This week the Falcons face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team with a top 5 defense. So expect a tough game for Ryan.

Stud 2: Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara had a spectacular debut in 2021. Kamara was unstoppable at both running and receiving the football. The Green Bay Packers defense was puzzled by Kamara’s shifty Barry Sanders-esque moves in the open field. Kamara and the rest of the Saints looked primed for a repeat performance in Week 2.

Dud 2: Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins

Since Myles Gaskin is RB1 on a run-heavy team, you would expect him to have some major production for the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. However, Gaskin looked like an RB2 or 3, in some situations, missing open holes and not making an impact in the game flow. Fortunately, Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed played better, but Gaskin is not worth the carries he gets in South Beach.

Stud 3: Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs

Tyreek Hill, aka the Cheetah, had a great game in Week One with over 100 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. The Kansas City Chiefs looked like their usual selves scoring long bomb touchdowns in a comeback victory against the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs face a weakened Baltimore Ravens D in Week 2, so expect a big game for Hill.

Dud 3: Julio Jones, Tennessee Titans

Julio Jones is one of the most talented receivers to ever play the game of football. But Jones didn’t look like himself at all on Week 1. Julio, the former Atlanta Falcon, had only 40 yards receiving and just three catches. AJ Brown was Tannehill’s primary target in Week 1 and I expect him to be again in Week 2.
