NFL Week 2: Overreactions, Analysis, and Superlatives

Tua is THE Franchise Guy.

If there was any doubt about Tua’s arm talent, those doubts were defeated Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins QB threw for over 400 yards, 6 TDs, with two INTs which occurred in the first half. Meanwhile, Baltimore jumped out to a 28-14 lead late in the 3rd, thanks mostly to Lamar Jackson. The game looked to be over after Jackson scored on a long touchdown run, but that was not the case. Tua completed a long touchdown to Tyreek Hill, followed by a defensive stop. Tua and Hill then reconnected for another long TD, tying the game at 28-28. After another passing TD to Jaylen Waddle, the Fins got the win. This game is an example of the needed virtue for patience with young QBs, and it has paid off for Miami so far.

Are the Titans Done?

Tennessee is only one year removed from being the #1 seed in the AFC. Hard to believe after Monday’s outing! The Bills, who look like an absolute juggernaut, dropped 41 points on the Titans, while the Titans put up little to no response, scoring only one touchdown, which was on their opening drive. Derrick Henry had 12 carries for 25 yards, averaging about 2.5 yards a carry. These are horrendous numbers for the supposedly best running back in the league. And Ryan Tannehill wasn’t better, throwing 3 INTs. The Malik Willis era could begin earlier than expected in Tennessee, or will it a tank show in Nashville?

The 2021 Bengals: a Fluke?

Did the Bengals catch lightning in a bottle in 2021? Because it’s starting to look like it. Cincy is 0-2 and is playing bad football all around, especially the offense. Joe Burrow hasn’t looked like himself so far, especially at Pittsburgh where he threw 5 interceptions. The Dallas game wasn’t an improvement, as Burrow couldn’t get the ball to his receivers while being hounded by Micah Parsons and the Cowboys defense. Jamarr’ Chase has been great still when he is able to get targeted. Cincy’s defense struggled against Mitchell Trubisky and Cooper Rush, so imagine when they face Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. There is much game left in the season, but can the ship be righted?
