#4: New York Giants 6-11
The Giants have made some offensive improvements: 1. Signing stud receiver Kenny Golladay and 2. Drafting speedster wide receiver Ka’Darius Toney in the first round. Also, powerhouse Saquon Barkley returns and Darius Slayton enters his third year. However, Daniel Jones is not the answer at QB. For instance, he has more fumbles than any other QB since 2019. Plus, the Giants do not have the defensive power needed to take on the high-powered Dallas and Philly offenses. Azeez Ojulari can’t do it alone. My verdict, 4th.
#3: Dallas Cowboys 8-9
Dallas did secure QB Dak Prescott for the long-term and drafted some defensive help in Micah Parson; however, there are still several holes. Dallas has injury issues on the O-line including Tyron Smith, who missed most of 2020 due to injuries. Furthermore in 2020, 1. A healthy Ezekiel Elliot put up his worst numbers – a career high in fumbles! 2. Amari Cooper continues to have drop issues. 3. Michael Gallup still has not broken out as expected. I believe Dallas should have used their first-round pick on a position of need. Rashawn Slater was still available at 10. He was a steal for the Chargers at 13. Cowboys finish 3rd.
#2: Philadelphia Eagles 9-8
Say what you want about Jalen Hurts, but you can’t deny he is a playmaker. Recall the throws he made on the run, under pressure, and in the pocket. Unfortunately, the Eagles had offensive line problems and Hurts had no reliable receivers. Potentially, those problems may have been resolved. Philly is set to regain all of the offensive linemen from their 2019 roster including Lane Johnson. In addition, Philly drafted Heisman winner Devonta Smith, a speedy deep threat and with Miles Sanders and recent add, Kerryon Johnson, the future looks bright in Philly. Eagles pull off 2nd.
#1: Washington Football Team 10-7
Washington is my number one for several reasons. One, they have a solid starter at QB now, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Two, they have improved their already tenacious defense with newbies William Jackson III and first rounder LB Jamin Davis, an immediate threat. Third, Coach Ron Rivera is in his second year and they can only get better. WFT for the NFC East win.
