Luka, Zion, and America’s Team

WEEKLY BOLD PREDICTIONS

In this week’s BOLD predictions let’s talk Luka, Zion, and America’s team also know as the Dallas Cowboys.

1. Luka Grabs a Medal for Slovenia

Yes, a long shot but possible in a wide-open international basketball field. Luka Doncic is coming off a MVP-caliber season in Dallas. (The Clippers eliminated the Mavs in the first round). Doncic, a Slovenian native, is representing his homeland in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Slovenian roster lacks NBA starters except for Doncic; however, this group is stacked with Euroleague veterans. Luka could easily lead this team of tough veterans to a medal, if he plays to his MVP standard.

2. Zion’s Massive Year

Not too long ago it appeared Zion would demand a trade from the Pelicans. Zion, after a rookie season cut short due to injuries, bounced back in 2020. He averaged 27, 8, and 3 over 61 games. Unfortunately, the Pelicans still missed the playoffs and sacked head coach Stan Van Gundy. With new head coach Willie Green at the helm, the Pelicans should focus their game plan on Zion. Zion was an All-Star in 2020 and a possible future MVP candidate. If rumors are true, Zion has spent more time in the gym and gained muscle. We expect a great season for Zion.

3. America’s Team in the Playoffs

2020 was a trainwreck for the Cowboys. It started with a Dak Prescott injury and finished without a playoff berth. In addition, Dallas showed up with one of the worst defenses in the NFL and gave up an average of 21.2 points per game. But things are looking up for Dallas. Prescott made a full recovery and the Cowboy hired former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator. Another plus is rookie Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons who Dallas drafted in the first round. With a weak NFC East, the Cowboys may just make it back to the playoffs.
