Rookies on the Rise

Weekly BOLD Predictions

We can’t wait to watch the newest additions to the NFL in 2021 – Rookies on the rise. Expect BIG things from this hot draft class including Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Travis Etienne, but really the list goes on.

1. Justin Fields Will Start Week 1 For Chicago

The Bears must really believe in Fields! The trade from #20 to #11 was a costly decision. While Fields’s last season with Ohio State earned him a finalist spot in the Heisman race, questions emerged regarding his leadership and work ethic. His stock significantly dropped. Moreover, the rookie will have to beat out recently signed QB Andy Dalton. The Bears picked up the veteran free-agent Dalton from Dallas and inked a 2-year deal. But Fields can undoubtedly nab the starting job.

2.  Zach Wilson Wins ORTY

Wilson was one of my least favorite quarterbacks in this year’s class. However, after reviewing some tape, I see why he was picked 2nd overall. In my opinion, Wilson is the Joe Burrow of the 2021 draft – a mid-round selection who rose to a top five pick. Not bad. The Jets’s newest play caller has weapons in the Meadowlands, including free agent addition Corey Davis and draft pick Elijah Moore. Wilson has drawn comparisons to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen; if he taps into his true potential, he could be deadlier than Trevor Lawrence.

3. Travis Etienne Rushes For 1,000+ Yards

I believe Etienne is the best running back in this year’s class; he just simply has the most skill. Javonte Williams and Najee Harris may be stronger and bigger, but Etienne has the hands of a receiver and the speed of a cornerback. In addition, he is in a familiar situation with Jacksonville. Urban Meyer has always valued speedy backs: Chris Rainey and Percy Harvin in Florida, and even Ezekiel Elliot at THE Ohio State University.  Etienne has the talent and the ball-carrier vision to be an elite running back in the NFL this season.
