Weekly BOLD Predictions
1. Lakers miss playoffs without Lebron and AD.
Yes, this is a long shot, but not entirely impossible. The Lakers are on a downward spiral since Lebron’s injury. Furthermore, an unsuccessful attempt at Victor Oladipo has lowered the morale in L.A. They did add All-Star Andre Drummond from Cleveland who will start at center. The Lakers also have Dennis Schroder, a very good point guard. But these two cannot carry the Lakers for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. Last week, the Lakers went 1-3 behind Drummond and Schroder, and AD won’t be back until late this month or May. Can this slide be possible?
2. Kyle Pitts goes Top-5 in the NFL draft.
Pitts is an out of this world talent, but the catch is he is a tight end. TEs do not have a reputation for being high draft picks. The first pick, which belongs to the Jags will be Trevor Lawrence. The Jets seem very high on Zach Wilson, and Niners will probably go QB at 3. That leaves Atlanta and Cincinnati who have mid to high tier QBs within grasp. Atlanta seems to be able to either trade out or pick a player who will have to make an instant impact. Pitts can be that player – a 6’6″ mountain of a man who runs a 4.4 and should leave Falcons fans’ mouths watering.
3. Jimmy G has played his last down as a 49er.
The Niners have traded up to the 3rd pick in the 2021 Draft. The only reason a team would trade up from the 12 spot to 3 is for a quarterback. San Fran did make it to a Super Bowl behind Jimmy G. Their loss could possibly be attributed to a coaching lapse. The quarterbacks most likely on the table would be Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Mac Jones. To me, the most NFL ready of the three is Jones. Take into account he has run the West Coast system in the past and is more of a refined talent than Fields or Lance. But I did say the Niners would pick Lance, so I’ll stick to my guns.
