5 Big Questions Heading Into the 2022 NFL Season

5. Is Tua “the Man” in Miami?

Tua Tagovailoa is the frequent topic of controversy since drafted 5th overall (ahead of Justin Herbert) in 2020. Tagovailoa occasionally flashes and demonstrates he DOES have franchise QB potential. The jury is still out, but with the new Miami offense adds including Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki, Tua could prove the naysayers wrong.

4. Rodgers, Back-To-Back-To-Back?

Career-wise, Aaron Rodgers notched an incredible feat: Winning back-to-back MVPs. Meanwhile, the Packers may have regressed on offense after losing veteran receivers Davante Adams and Marques Valdez-Scantling. However, the Packers’s roster lists some fresh young talent in Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Truthfully, Rodgers instantly elevates any teammates so we never know how the things will go in Titletown.

3. Possible Lamar Rebound?

Lamar Jackson is one of the most electric players in NFL history. Jackson had a great year in 2019 and won the MVP. 2020 proved to be a down year for Jackson, but he still led the Ravens to a playoff berth and a Pro Bowl. 2021 started with Jackson looking like his 2019 form, but Ravens’s injuries (including Jackson’s) grounded Baltimore’s season. Look for Jackson to bounce back in 2022. Baltimore traded Marquise Brown to the Cardinals, but boosted the offensive line and run game by acquiring Tyler Linderbaum and Kenyan Drake. Meanwhile, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews will anchor Baltimore’s pass game.

2. Can Trevor Lawrence Break Out?

T-Law had a very lackluster 2021 season, leading rookie QBs in INTs and only threw multiple TDs in Week 1. Personally, I do not blame the Jags for Lawrence’s shortcoming, but they need to develop him, quickly. New veteran Coach Doug Pederson, who has a Super Bowl win on his resume, should help Lawrence find his NFL groove. I expect a big leap from Lawrence, but do not expect him to become a Peyton Manning overnight.

1. Will the Bills Get Over the Hump?

Sadly, multiple times, the Bills have been seconds away from the Super Bowl: 2021’s AFC Championship defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs and in 2022 when the Chiefs sent the Bills home in OT. Josh Allen and the Bills are the title favorites this season, but the window is closing. Von Miller, who signed a massive off-season contract, is only getting older, and Stefon Diggs is not as young as some believe. James Cook is a great addition to the passing game, while Gabe Davis appears to be on the rise. But can they put it all together when it matters most?

  1. Tua – he’s too fragile, good backup but can’t carry a team for a whole season
Rogers – he’s still got something in the tank but the Pack left him out to dry.
Lamar – being a Steeler fan, I don’t want him on the field.
TLaw – should breakout if he’s got a decent surrounding cast.
Buffalo – Josh A is a top notch QB, and if you’ve got one of those on your roster, you’ve got a shot.

    • Thanks for the comment, I agree with your takes on Lawrence and Buffalo. I do however, believe Tua, with an improved O-Line and more weapons can lead Miami to playoffs. Rodgers has looked good in camp with his new receivers and I expect another MVP caliber year from him.
