#5: Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook has been a PPR beast since he entered the league in 2017. And he doesn’t look to be slowing down soon. Cook has reached 1500 scrimmage yards in every season (with the exception of 2018 due to ACL injury) and has averaged 20.5 in PPR and 18.6 in standard leagues. The Vikings have improved the offensive line in 2022, which can only make life easier for Cook.
#4: Nick Chubb
The Chubbster shined in 2020 and 2021 when he finished in the top three for scrimmage yards and 15+ TDs in both seasons. Chubb splits carries with Kareem Hunt, but I don’t think that will hurt his efficiency as much as most believe. Hunt only received 35% of rushing snaps last season, making him more of a 3DRB or receiving handcuff. I estimate Chubb to have around 1400 rushing yards and approximately 430 yards receiving, making him more of a rushing yards threat for PPR leagues.
#3: Austin Ekeler
Austin Ekeler may be a surprise at #3 to the casual fan; however, there is substance behind this ranking. In 2021, Ekeler had over 1500 scrimmage yards and finally emerged as a true RB1. The Chargers are a rising team and I expect Ekeler’s numbers to rise as well. My guess is his floor, 1200 yards, and his ceiling, 1700.
#2: Derrick Henry
If this was a list of best running backs in the league, Derrick Henry would be number one. However, since this is fantasy, he misses out on the top spot. Henry is going to be great rushing the ball, that’s almost a guarantee, but his weak receiving production will hold him back from being RB1, especially in PPR leagues. Nevertheless, he will get around 2200 scrimmage yards and should score around 18 TDs.
#1: Jonathan Taylor
Last season, Taylor was the best all-around running back in both the NFL and fantasy leagues. He averaged 30 PPG in PPR and 25 PPG in standard leagues. Most of his production came from his rushing averages, while he did have some receiving output as well. I expect Taylor to have a 1700 yard season, but his touchdowns should outnumber both Henry and Ekeler.
